What do people know and think about nuclear?
In the past, national and local policymakers might have been worried about the public perception of potential new nuclear development and, in particular, the views of those living near to designated nuclear sites.
What’s clear from our polling is that, on the whole, the public understand the benefits of nuclear – for the country’s energy future and for their own areas – and are already more positive about nuclear than many might assume.
With appropriate communication and education, many more are very open to learning and becoming supportive. Thus, nuclear is an acceptable option, especially when combined with proactive public education and engagement.
